The lack of many stickies or organized guides makes it tough when you are learning but you will come to be happy about this gap in poker literature. It acts as a strong barrier to hordes of tight small stakes players who would otherwise infect our games.

This interests me...I make more off excessively tight players than any other single player-type...why don't I want more of them in my games?

you are very wrong and misguided.

Hi my name is matt and im 20 years old and go to UCSB. I've been lurking for about a year now, make a post on and off. Currently i play 3/6 and 5/10 6 max and take shots at 10/20 with decent success when i do, I would be higher but i love spending the money i make. I gonna start posting more often, now that im playing hardcore again but i suck at the harder aspects of math in poker so that's why i usually don't.

Vic is correct. It may feel like you make more off of them, but you really don't. The reason many get that impression is because against tighties, you will win more pots, but much smaller pots. The looser a game is and the more mistakes your opponents make, the better the game is for your bottom line.

I feel a little less special. I thought I was the only one with a Don't Submit button.

For what it's worth, I've greatly enjoyed more than a few of your posts.

I remain Your Majesty's faithful and devoted (if slightly resentful) servant.

Matt,
Don't think you need to be an advanced calculus or quantum physics major to make a post. As a matter of fact, most of us are semi-retarded people with a good feel for poker and a lot of discipline and self control.

Usually, (and this could get me in trouble) the people who are best at math can figure every decision to the nearest 100th of a penny, but have no clue what hand they're up against. The people that do everything intuitively can tell you tendencies about every player and provide the most accurate reads, but will make -EV plays left and right because they don't know if the ends justify the means. The best play is to find a happy medium that you're comfortable with.

As far as posts go......
The most informative posts are comprised of words, thoughts, ideas, situations, and content. Stop worrying so much about posting advanced mathematical analyses; they don't get read as much as you think.

Monty,

I just learned what a tiltblocker is from one of your recent posts. No more lurking, OK?
