Re: French cuffs on dressy casual shirts
ED,
Referring to one of your earlier posts, I wear french cuffs to work at least 4 or 5 days a week. I'd certainly wear a french cuff shirt with dressy type slacks, and so certainly in non-work situations, but I'd never wear a double cuff shirt with jeans. Just wouldn't feel right. BLP |

Re: French cuffs on dressy casual shirts
[ QUOTE ]
Secondly, I guess I was mainly expecting to hear from people who think it's a normal option to wear french cuff shirts with suits. In a number of places, especially NY/Europe/Asia, it is almost standard to wear french cuff shirts with suits. But a lot of people who wear these shirts to work every day think it's crazy to wear them when not wearing a suit. And their head explodes at the idea of a dressy casusal french cuff shirt and jeans. [/ QUOTE ] From NY here. Work mostly in banks/investment banks. French cuff shirts are always pimp with a suit. Without a suit, it can either be extremely pimp or extremely pathetic. Think along the lines of tuxedo shirt with jeans. Some guys can do it and look like a million bucks, some guys do it and look like they just got back from a bad wedding. Really depends on the guy. I voted for pimp, though, since most people who go out on a limb with this stuff are usually the kind who can pull it off well. |

French cuffs without a tie are lame. A tie without a sportcoat/suit/dinner jacket is lame. You know this.

French cuffs without a tie are lame. [/ QUOTE ] Some French cuff shirts are near impossible to wear with a tie due to pattern. How do you explain this? [ QUOTE ] A tie without a sportcoat/suit/dinner jacket is lame. [/ QUOTE ] This is correct. |

Re: French cuffs on dressy casual shirts
Unfortunately, I'm at work and don't have time to scour the internet for absurd looking French cuff shirts. But try this one for starters.
Edit: Damnit, quickly reading this thread, I mistakenly thought this was a French cuff shirt. I suck. But I definitely have seen French cuff shirts in similar patterns. |

Re: French cuffs on dressy casual shirts
I voted stupid because I am old and a tad bit cranky. I have a collegeue that wears only BR clothes including these french cuff shirts and he looks good in them. I am sure he would vote pinp.

Re: French cuffs on dressy casual shirts
If you use these dont get a french cuff shirt. Get real cuff links or a normal shirt.

So, the 2/3 group seems much more likely to be right. [/ QUOTE ] Since when are 2/3 of people correct in any matter involving taste? |

Re: French cuffs on dressy casual shirts
if you can pull it off, do it. I'm guessing that since you thought about doing it you can ull it off. I think it's solid.
