I didn't complete a single august goal...

1) Actually focus on my goals
2) 10k hands between 2/4 and 3/6 and possibly 6-max (any limit)
3) Play 2 MTT's week
4) Continue reading HOH books
5) Post at least 1 hand a week for review on small stakes

Why would you stop playing a fishy game? Are the stakes low?

Party $100 NL, which I broke down and 4 tabled last night and the local game is 1/2 $100 max/min and 2/5 $250min/$1000 max. It is just cutting into my limit play. I read the SS forums and am constantly thinking about limit play, but all I have been playing is NL lately. Kind of goofy. But this is the month for rededication.

I suggest you keep playing the fishy 2-5NL game if you are pulling long-term profit from it. There's a lot of money to be won and lessons to be learned from that game that you won't pick up playing 2-8 tables of 2-4->5-10limit online.

i agree, i play poker to make money. plus, the skills i have acquired from limit play allow me to trap these goofballs that have no clue about equity advantages, etc. any time i can get all of my money in as a 4 or 4 1/2 to 1 favorite, i stand to be very profitable in the long run. and this is what is happening. and yet i still read only limit forums and books.

Having a goal involving "make a certain amount of money" is very dumb.

I say worrying about (or evaluating ourselves based on) things we can't control makes life less happy.

But that is just my opinion.

OK, here goes:

-- Play a lot of hands (which for me is 5,000 - 7,000)
-- Continue to run good (Aug. was awesome; I really need to keep flopping well)
-- Finish my gradual abandonment of $3/6 and only play $5/10 full and 6-max.
-- Assuming I continue to run well for most of Sept. (a mighty big assumption) at least take a shot at $10/20 (full or short).
-- Don't play meaningful stakes when not sober.
-- Re-read the King Yao book for the 3rd time.
-- Tr to play a little live.
-- Meet up with some 2+2ers IRL.
-- Begin tking off the 7-10 pounds I put on over tghe past 12 months (this process has already begun).
-- Continue to spend mroe quality time with my wife.
-- Read more non-poker books (the recent new translation of Don Quixote is on my list).
