And if anyone calling as a 54/46 dog is making a bad call, I guess we have to criticize every time someone calls a pocket's pair all-in bet with an AKo. OMG why did he call with AK? He's a dog!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

When they are as deep and a good a player as Matusow, calling off all/most your chips with AK is a terrible play.

Matusow called with Q9

I thought it was 97, but I might not be remembering the hand correctly.

No, it was suited. That's why he was such a huge favorite and he called. He just got the biggest bad beat ever from Raymer.

OK, I've searched the past threads to no avail...someone help an uninformed soul on what is the beef between Raymer and Matusow? What exactly was the meltdown at the 2004 WSOP from Matusow?

Thanks for the info.....

They didn't really show the hand, but Matusow raised Raymer and Raymer folded. Matusow then flipped his cards over and said, "you better not f*ck with me, boy, I'll bust you. I got big cahones, you have little cahones". Something along those lines. Then he tried to shake Raymer's hand and say "I was just kidding around" and Raymer declined as he should have.

After a hand (I believe Mike raised and Grag folded, but not important), Matusow started putting down Greg, saying that Mike had big cajones, and Greg just had little ones, and that Mike would be the big winner. Greg ignored him and Mike finally calmed down and realized (or was told) that he was making a jerk of himself. As they were going on break, Greg was writing his chip count in a notebook, and Mike tried to apologize and reached out to shake Greg's hand. Greg indicated he didn't want to shake, and continued writing.

The big meltdown, unrelated to that, was when Matusow busted out. He walked over to the side of the room, sat down bemoaning his bad luck, and started crying.
