The cards are sharp. I got hit on the forehead with a pair of pocket aces (well, one of them) and it cut my skin open. I avoid Commerce msot of the time. The Bike is not much better.

I have played at some tables at the Bike and at Commerce with the machines and it seems to me that the blaming of the dealers for "bad beats" is minimized at those tables.

From what I've experienced, the machines haven't really cut down on the dealer abuse. I posted here many months ago a funny line from a dealer, after the machines had been installed at the Bike. I suggested to the dealer that the abuse might finally stop, to which he replied sadly "we still have to cut the cards." And yes, players still blame the dealers, and they often specifically say it's the dealers who cut the cards. Needless to say, there are not many things more retarded then blaming a dealer for poor beats. My suggestion (probably made to loudly and too often, partcularly when some nimrod is abusing a dealer) is for the casinos to allow a dealer after pulling the deck out of the machine, to offer it to someone at the table to slide the cut card into the deck, like they do at blackjack. I know, it wouldn't fly, but I still like saying it nice and loud when some idiot is blaming a dealer. It usually manages to shut the offending player up...for like 10 minutes maybe.

I had heard that the machines were coming right after they changed the collection method, which must be, what, over a year ago? Two years now? I'm not sure what took so long.

I assume they deal more hands/hour with the machines than without?

From playing at places with automatic shufflers, I have concluded that I love them and I was very disappointed when I was at Commerce recently that they didn't have them. However, from playing at places with automatic shufflers, I can also tell you that you have way too much faith in the rationality of people who are prone to do irrational things like blaming dealers when you guess that
[ QUOTE ]
that would help with some of the dealer abuse since players are less apt to blame the dealer for dealing them losers with the automatic machine shuffling the cards.

[/ QUOTE ]
These people also still ask the dealer to give the deck a "wash" before putting it in the machine if they are running bad and want a deck change, even though when using the machines, decks are alternated on every hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

shufflers are mad hype. i refuse to ever play at a casino without shufflers again, which is why i always go to viejas instead of morongo. shufflers speed up the games a lot. it drives me crazy watching these fuking dealers wasting time by shuffling. 'push the green button, pull out cards, cut, deal' instead of 'monster wash, shuffle, riffle, shuffle, rifle, strip, riffle, strip etc'

however, at viejas, most the dealers still give the cards a little "wash" before putting them into the shufflers. which is way pointless, it baffles me.

Yep. The other day some moron stopped the game to have the floor called to see if it was mandatory that they had to scramble the cards before putting them in the machine. I think some people say crap like this, especially some semi regulars as this guy was plus a few others, to hold up the game.

I am starting to notice a slight increase in trying to get 'set-ups' lately. Hopefully that will plateau.

I have noticed this. However, where one outlet is plugged, another is usually formed. The 'flow' of emotion has to go somewhere. Though the new one may be in smaller quantities.

This is a small price to pay to keep the paranoid donators happy.
