1. Van Halen: DLR [/ QUOTE ] Very nice, Bernie. Do you dismiss the Hagar years like some fans, or did you just accept that it was a lesser band, but one still worth listening to because of Eddie? |

Some I really liked. But it wasn't even close to what they were with DLR. Im not sure if lesser is the right word. It's just alot different. Song-wise with Sammy they're more 'song-oriented' to where with Dave they were more riff oriented. Personally, I really like Sammy on his own much more. Especially his older stuff. It fkin' rocks. But it seems that when they play together, they cut their balls off a bit for some reason. They just seem so, so...safe. I heard the 1st tune of this 'reunion' and it sounded like a time warp. A bad time warp. It reminded me of Boston where everything kind of sounds the same. It's the 1st VH album, other than the live 'right here right now', that I didn't buy. Maybe if I sample it I might get it, but im not in any rush. Especially since it's a greatest hits deal. Besides, I have enough bootlegs of the DLR era stuff. Not to mention there's plenty I don't have. b |
