Default Re: definition of a poker pro

"You want to call yourself a professional poker player, thats fine. But should you find yourself against almost any one of the tournament pro's or high stakes cash game pro's and you will likely start to consider yourself in a different light."

Someone playing for Hudersfield United in division 3 of the UK football league is considered a professional football player, compared to a footballer from the Premier league they are relatively crap at football and earn much less for playing football, but they are still much much much better than your average member of public at football.

Poker is the same. There are different PRO's of differing abilities and earnings.

Please explain why you consider poker to be unique in this aspect. If one earns one money soley through one occupation one can be said to be doing it professionaly. You do not seem able to accept this with poker.

Rather than others infalting there egos with the term PRO ( A totaly reasonable thing for them to say if poker is there sole form of income). I suspect that it you who finds your own ego threatened by this term and that is why you are so utterly defensive and neurotic about its use.
