Default Re: got the details on Party\'s WSOP Package (they are a bunch of crooks)

[ QUOTE ]
You really are getting ripped off.

Just got an e-mail from MGM and for MGM Mirage players club members it is only $59 each night on sun-thurs and only $160 on weekends.

Approx. differnce = minimum $920 / max $1050

[/ QUOTE ]I get those all the time for free rooms at Harrahs/Rio, rooms for $29 a night at Stardust, free rooms at Bally's/Paris, Venetian suites for $129/night, etc. That's because I've played at these places. I don't think you can compare prices for a 10 night stay for a guy that isn't going to play in the casino to a 2-3 night comped or cheap room.

He wins and doesnt like the hotel and can find a cheaper hotel and thinks he is entitled to money back.

that has nothing to do with what's at hand. party poker's prize package, which comes directly out of the entry fees of the other contestants, bills 200 dollars per night of hotel rooms, but they only cost 150. this is an unadvertised rake.

Two things. First, the MGM has a poker room now, and I would expect many people to play there. You are given a few extra days in addition to the length of the tournament. If you dont think that Party gets a cheper rate, call up any hotel and tell them you want to book 1000 rooms and see what they do. Second, Party hasnt done anything. At least stars pays for your hotel. We put up all the money for every single thing we get from Party. We dont owe them a damn thing. Its one thing if the poker site gives you hotel/clothes/dinners, but when they give you less than what you paid for....

Default Reply from Party Poker

I asked Party a couple of times if I could have the money paid out in cash to make my own reservations (since I will be in Vegas for 2 weeks).

Third time is the charm and I finally got a response:

"I am sorry, but as a general rule we do not let people make their own reservations. The room is part of the package and has already been booked. As we have committed to a certain number of rooms with the MGM, we cannot cancel those, as we will be charged for them. We will however, refund any money back to you, that has not been used for the hotel - i.e. our package currently includes $1,800 for the hotel stay. That is due to the fact that when we compiled the package, we didn’t have a definite room rate yet, and estimated $200/night. Since we were able to secure a better rate, we will not be using all of this money and this will be credited back to your account after the tournament. You also have the option to choose Monday as a checkout date and therefore will be refunded an additional $800.

You will have a regular room at the MGM"

Sounds fair enough to me.

But I wonder if they would have given the remaining money back if no one had complained
