Re: PokerStars down?
Hi, I was able to relogon and see the message that we will be refunded (the initial buyin I assume). I think it is extreme unfair for remaining players.
Is this the usuall way of handling crash by Poker star? |

PokerStars Tourney Crash - Correct Solution?
Ok, let me first say that I'm not mad - it's only a difference of a few dollars, but I'm curious what people think the right solution is.
PokerStars just cancelled the $20 Rebuy tourney with 224 people left. The problems started with some people being disconnected about 1 & a half hours in - as best as I can tell. PokerStars gave EVERYONE their fees back - rebuys & all, including those who left the tournament well before the problem started. Heck, I had 3 people from my table lose their first T$1500 & then leave in the first 10 minutes. Wouldn't it be better to split the prize pool among the players in the tournament when the problem started. Obviously if they didn't know when the problem started, then they may have to start at the beginning, but I guess I'm having trouble understanding how the people who got knocked out, left, & went to bed should be getting their money back. |

Re: PokerStars Tourney Crash - Correct Solution?
Hello Lori,
Thank you for writing about this matter. Initially we were unsure whether the problem was at our end, or a major routing problem for one of the bigger ISP's. It became apparant that the problems were at our end, and We did experience some problems which affected the performance of our games. These problems have now been resolved. One effect of this outage is that you may previously have reached the PokerStars Cashier, but it showed a zero balance. The proper balance should now be visible in the Cashier. Some of our tournaments were cancelled, and refunds have already been issued. However, if you, or any of your friends were playing in a tournament at the time of the downage and did not complete the tournament, please e-mail us with the subject line: "REFUND: Txxxxxx, $a+b buy-in, USERID" ...where "xxxxxx" is the Tournament ID, "a+b" is the buy-in of the tournament (for example, $20+2), and "USERID" is your PokerStars User ID. We apologize for this outage, which is a very rare occurence here on PokerStars. We appreciate your patience and understanding as well as your business. Regards |

Re: PokerStars Tourney Crash - Correct Solution?
Maybe recalculated from when the problem started, but not from when it was paused. I noticed a lot of players sitting out for a half hour before I got locked out. Based on the emails posted on this thread earlier, I don't think Pokerstars knows when the problem started.
My sng resumed play after the disruption. |

Re: PokerStars down?
I was playing last night, also. Sure looks like a "denial of service" attack on Stars. I read somewhere (Cardplayer? Business Week?) that internet sites had been threatened with this if they did not pay blackmail. Are more to come?

You came through so good on this one, I'll forgive the case of the strange signature..... I'm sure I've seen this before somewhere. Beware the Aliens Rom, looks like Stars is finally getting their visitation. Lori |
