They have everything you will need to put together a suit. Buying the shirt and tie there will give you the advantage of the saleman's advice which it sounds like will be beneficial.

I guess I'll set my budget at $500. I'd prefer to get it here and not in Italy because I don't know how much time I'll have.

So, Men's Wearhouse is where I should start? I want it tailored. Do they have good shirts and ties too?

Where ever you end up just find a salesman whose attire looks like your style. Then get that guy to help you pick out your wardrobe. If this your first suit go with navy or black (unless your brother's wedding dictates something else). Get wrinkle free shirts (IMPORTANT) and a couple of ties. Make sure you have black dress shoes as well (though you could and should, if possible, get those in Italy). Good luck!

If you live in Chicago, head out I-88 to Aurora. Premium Outlet Mall. Armani Outlet. You can't do better. There are a few other places to check out there as well, including Brooks Brothers, but be careful, as BB outlet stores often carry a lower line of stuff. The Armani is top notch.

hah...that's where I go. My folks live about 2 miles from there.

Twice a year Barney's has a warehouse sale in a hangar at Santa Monica airport (also one in Manhattan). I've gotten $1,200 suits for $500-$600 there. Also great shoes and shirts there. Throngs of women descend on that place like locusts. As an added bonus, there are no dressing rooms. The women are so intoxicated by the shopping they're doing they change in the middle of everything.

Men's Warehouse

You're gonna like they way you look.
I guarantee It.

This is the correct answer. Their service is awesome and they have some very nice suits. Nordstrom? Give me a [censored]' break....

[/ QUOTE ]

Mens Warehouse (thought it was wearhouse?) does not have "nice" suits.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nice enough for a suit the guy is gonna wear once.

Yes, they have shirts and ties, and the salesmen there will coordinate everything for you. Since you are going to be in an Italian wedding, make sure you get a long sleeve shirt, and the cuffs of your shirt are visible past the arm of the suit.

Check out overstock.com, they routinely have 1200+ suits for 300-500. Then all you have to do is take it to get it tailored.

How has a thread gone on this long about getting a suit in chicago without a mention of Irv's? Some good deals to be had, though a lowball kind of place. I'd check it if you are in the Men's Warehouse price range.

The correct answer is Hong Kong. Two tailored suits, I pick the material, for $850. Another $100 gets me tailored shirts with mongrammed cuffs.
