i agree, i think it is very boring.
even if he ends up with JJ or QT, who cares.

Was this a hand gigabet was the other player and pushed the AK out?

That would make it interesting , and would remind me of the article by Barron in this month's magazine. I push here because I don't change my decided flop line or range on a blank on the turn. Villain may very well be a very solid player applying some fundamental principles as in:

He knows what range we think he puts us on, he knows we know he knows we connected with flop, he thinks we think he knows we can't be bluffed out of this pot, therefor eliminating in our mind the chance he is bluffing or doing this with a worse hand, and forcing some of us to play weak/tight and fold a better hand if we go by the book.

If hes such an awesome level 4 thinking player, the only place it gets us is back to square one, where we are ahead of his range, continue with our line, and push here, thrilled that he put more money in the pot, which is what we were hoping for taking this line.

AKs (diamonds would be bad) [...] AKs chop or the villain has 9 outs to draw the nut flush

Unless he's got a backdoor flush draw (K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]X[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] is the only one that makes sense to me)

[/ QUOTE ]

A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] is on the board, and Hero is holding K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

If the villain has the flush draw he either has Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (unlikely by all accounts, includ. yours) or is behind right now, but now there are more potential scare cards for the next street then there were going to the turn (Q,J,T, any [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]), another argument for pushing IMO.

It seems to me inevitable that someone is going to have the screws put to them soon in this hand, better him now, then me after a Q,J,T or [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] river. As for folding, I just don't see myself laying this down.

If he folds, we're happy to take down this large pot, and if he calls, he's made a big mistake and we've got huge equity.

[/ QUOTE ]

You mean, "if he calls and is already behind he's made a big mistake".

I give villian less than a 5% chance of folding to a push. So really, all that matters is wether we are ahead or not.

He could have Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] for at least a conceivable backdoor flush draw.

No, this holding doesn't fit with the miniraise on the flop, but I'm not sure if any holding fits.

I agree that this hand is pretty straight forward and boring. Our hand is too strong to fold. If we call, all the money is going in on the river, how can we fold, regardless of what falls on the river?

What if opponent is on A/Q of diamonds and the river is a rag diamond? We didn't see it coming at all, and we can't figure a rag to have helped his hand any.

A push is our best line because:

1. There is a slight possibility he'll fold (any possibility for us to take the hand down now and avoid elimination sounds good to me)

2. If he has two pair that we beat, he won't get away from it on a scary river card, we'll get paid off now.

I'm interested to see what Gigabet has to say about this hand that makes it interesting. I push.

7 couldn't possibly have helped him (except perhaps for giving a backdoor flush draw, but that's unlikely).

Situation hasn't changed. I push. If he has QT or a set, I go home feeling fine about the way I played the hand.

He could have 2-pair, pair+draw, set, or straight. I don't know and I don't think anyone can know without seeing his cards. But, IMO, I'm ahead more often than not, so....push and expect a call.
