St Louis: 1st int NL in pitching 2nd in NL in runs scored = the definition of well rounded.

Houston: 2nd in NL in pitching and 11th in runs scored = the exact opposite of well rounded

[/ QUOTE ]Well rounded, we've got speed (Taveras, Burke, Everett).

Power (Berkman, Ensberg, Lane, Biggio)

Defense (Everett, Ensberg (yes, ensberg), Ausmus, Taveras, Lane (yes, Lane).

Pitching...Roger, Roy, Andy, Backe, Wandy, Qualls, Wheeler, Lidge

and a good bench (Vizcaino, Palmeiro, Bagwell, Bruntlett, Scott, Burke).

And a nice mix of youth and experience. That is well rounded, sir.

[/ QUOTE ]

I love how every time someone uses stats to support their argument, all you do is say "well, that's nice but the Astros r00000000000L!" and ignore the data. I'm used to better arguments when debating with Diablo.

OTOH without Beltran, the Stros may have well lost all 7 games.

[/ QUOTE ]

This comment takes the cake. Clearly, after 4 losses, they would have allowed STL to advance.

Are you really this much of a dolt? STFU.

WOW! Almost 2-1 on Houston! That's like stealing! Time to pony up and prepare to retire. I'm awful glad that there's a place for me to capitalize on KSteel's tremendous insight.

I assume you are an astros fans Ksteel so I just have a slightly off topic question.

Did it piss you off as much as it pissed me off to see how much of a big deal the media made of Clemens in game 4. Lance Berkmen hits a grand slam in the 8th, Ausmus hits a game tying HR in the 9th, Brad Lidge and company pitch a great game, and yet all they talked about was CLemens and his pitching out of the pen. Granted I can't stand Roger Clemens, but I was just wondering if even astros fans felt they took a lot of the credit away from the other players.

edit: Forgot to mention Burke hitting the game winner.

[/ QUOTE ]

Absolutely. I mean sure he did a great job, but so did Wheeler, Qualls, Lidge, et al. And how do they not make a HUGE deal out of Ausmus' 2 out 9th inning 400-foot just-barely-over-the-line HR ball that A Jones almost catches? And they didn't even care to point out that Burke is a rookie? And they didn't point out 2 GS's in one game?

Yes, I noticed. But, you see...they are the Eastern Sports Promotional Network, and so, they need to qualify the event by pointing out any ex-Yankees that played a roll in it.

You see, the nation can't fathom how the Astros won this game, so ESPN has to point out that Roger saved the day all by himself. It's not a classic, unless it had to do with one of theirs.

Here's something else that was uberly-F&&&ed up... when they showed Ausmus' homer, they go "Brad Ausmus, from New Haven, Connecticut"... or some sh**. WTF!?!? How often when someone hits an HR, do they point out where they are from (unless it qualify's the game in their eyes). In this case they are letting the nation know that Ausmus = from New England, therefore the event was possible.

ESPN makes Adolf Hitler look like a "voice of reason".

EDIT: I said in another post that had this game been played between the Yankees and Red Sox, they'd already be printing a commemorative coin with A-Rod's face on one side, Big Papi's on the other, that says "In Jeter we trust", commemorating the greatest game ever played, in any sport, ever, on any planet.

Me and my dad were talking and we agreed that if Jeter came up with the Brewers, the announcers would probably pronounce his name "Jetter", and they certainly wouldn't have a camera on his DAD in the stands during the game. Is Jeter's dad the only dad that comes to watch? What is this, little league?

Fortunately for us, we have levelheaded posters such as yourself to break it down for us. Thanks to both you and El Diablo for this insightful post.
