[ QUOTE ]
It turns out that Jack should have paid approx $30,000 in income tax on his poker profits.

- What happens then?

[ QUOTE ]

- What happens then?
- What is the penalty?
- Does JACK then have any kind of black mark on either his credit record or IRS internal records?
- Is his act criminal, and will he have a criminal record?
- Does it matter whether Jack knew that he was withholding his poker winnings (presumably fraudulent), versus whether he has a reasonable (even if ultimately rejected by the IRS) argument as to why he left them off (let's say for the sake of argument that he was able to make such a showing, even if extremely unlikely -- I only add this twist because from some of the IRS language I read, the penalties are somewhat less harsh if the filer had a reasonable basis for his actions).

[/ QUOTE ]

These questions are stupid. You owe the taxes. If the IRS thinks you committed a civil fraud, they sue you and you owe big penalties on top of the tax liability, up to 75% of the amount of the tax liability. If the IRS thinks your actions went beyond fraud, and you had the requisite state of mind to violate the law criminally, then your case is referred to the criminal enforcement division. You spend 100k+ in legal fees just so you can plead guilty to multiple felonies, i.e., false statement to the government, tax fraud, mail fraud, etc. You pay a fine of up to $100,000 and are sentenced to a maximum of 5 years in prison. Take your chances.

Move to europe! If you live in the EU you pay gambling taxes in the country you won the money. Most sites are in Gibraltar (party, empire) or England (Crypto) and they don't have taxes on gambling winnings.

It's nice to see how some of you are such obedient citizens. I hope the shackles are not on to tight.

Those of you who don't pay your taxes are [censored] cockknockers.

Nobody likes paying taxes. Nobody likes all the things that are done with our tax money.

But we have it pretty damn good here. It's not perfect by any stretch, there are any number of things that could be done better from trash removal to paving roads to foreign policy to presidents keeping their dicks out of interns mouths. But all in all it's pretty good.

We have freedoms that others lack. We have opportunities that others lack. If you have a new idea and a little initiative you can make more money than you can imagine.

And all that is asked of you for all the advantages you enjoy is to pay your taxes and vote. If you can't find it in yourself to do those things then you should just go kill yourself because you're a waste of oxygen.
