Re: Baseball and the wildcard
I don't like the Wild Card.
Baseball used to have the pennant race, something that was unique to baseball. The stakes were much higher in september before the WC. Also, if you're gonna play 162 regular season games, that should count for a lot. A 105 win team shouldn't be eliminated for losing 3 out of 5 in a divisional playoff series. |

Re: Baseball and the wildcard
If they have to have a 5 game series, I would rather it be the world series. The earlier rounds should be the longer series.
But I would rather they increase the length of all series to 7 games, (or perhapse go to 9 games in the opening round and 7 thereafter). |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] agreed. the next best thing would be having a DH rule one way or the other across both leaugues. [/ QUOTE ] As long as one way or the other means no DH, at all, ever, anywhere. [/ QUOTE ] i can live with that. but with interleague play AND THE SERIES!!! , it should be one way or the other. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Baseball and the wildcard
[ QUOTE ]
If you can't win your division, you shouldn't be in the playoffs. and San Diego should? What about the Red Sox the past two years? Clearly one of the best 6 teams in baseball. Baseballs pre wild card format was awful. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed...what does it do for baseball that under the old format the Houston Astros are on the outside looking in, while a team from the NL West, below .500, mind you, is in. The wild card format is the only thing baseball has done for years that makes sense. |

Re: Baseball and the wildcard
How about the two division format? It rewarded the best records, and teams like the padres would not be let in. But yes wild card is good. Go phillies
