Re: best opening riff...
Most of the guitar openings have been covered, so...
I like the bass opening for Would? by Alice In Chains, and the bass + flute for Cross Eyed Mary by Jethro Tull. Percussion openings: YYZ by Rush, and Africa by Toto. Piano: My Old School by Steely Dan I'm going to put my teeth in and go watch Matlock now... |

Re: best opening riff...
I really like Jonny Lang's slide guitar intro to Groundhog Day (on the album with Double Trouble). I also like several of the intros on Stevie Ray Vaughan's songs, tightrope, cold shot, and life by the drop are good.
I also like songs that use the repeated bass line as an intro. Money by Pink Floyd, Stir it up by Bob and Come as you are by Nirvanna come to mind. |

Johnny B Goode-Chuck Berry [/ QUOTE ] This is clearly the correct answer. The man pretty much INVENTED the opening guitar riff, and this is his best. |

This is clearly the correct answer. The man pretty much INVENTED the opening guitar riff, and this is his best [/ QUOTE ] well, he stole it from Marty McFly, but Chuck was the first one to take it mainstream. |
