I can honestly say I've never open-limped from the button, but HEPFAP says there is a time to do it. (p. 197)

[/ QUOTE ]

I did it once in a 6-max game. I had T9s and the BB was a maniac jamming the bet/raise button. Walked away from the table $500 richer...

But when dealing with open-limping from the button, we are dealing with a special kind of retardation.

I think I'm going to do it more against TAG blinds just to f uck with their heads.

This actually isn't that bad an idea.

[/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't sound that bad, actually...but with what hands? Good holdings only I assume, so that you can sweat the heat that will be applied?

[/ QUOTE ]

HPFAP recommends it against loose blinds who will defend a lot, and you have a hand you want to play but it's stealing equity would normally make up for the loss of implied odds you would get by raising. so you want to raise reverse implied odds hands, IMO, such as A9o and A6s (even though sklansky uses A6o as an example IIRC. I'd have thought that would be in the set of hand we wanted to raise, but maybe it's a limp).

a possible set of limping hands could include things like 44 and 76s, where you want to play with position but don't want to invest two bets when you know you'll be called.

that said, I've still never open limped on the button

IMO this is FPS. I can see it being effective at 15 and up.

I can't believe people are advocating check-calling this river. You aren't up against someone who has shown aggression; there aren't any missed draws on board. The sort of player to openlimp OTB is generally not the sort to bluff the river.

Bet the river. Fold to a raise.

I would argue an IQ more in the 8-12 range. But that is just nit-picking.

When I try to put this guy on a hand the first thing that comes to mind is A/K high that just can't believe that you could flop a pair and just "has to see it" since it's only one more bet. The other thing is he could have a big pair and be trapping you, there are lots of people who do this as well. But either way I like bet/fold here, can't believe some people are saying that it's really bad.

In a situation like this, the fact he has shown no aggression means less than it usually does, IMO.

Simply because I would think that it is more likely that this particular player wouldnt play his good one pair type hands aggressively at all.

i try to read posts before i read the responses. so if its been said before then my bad. though it just felt to me that the original poster deserved the "ass-whipping" because he seemed to feel his play was so superior to the button, when he made a clear mistake on the river.

[/ QUOTE ]

You need an ass-whipping you arrogant prick. Rather, whomever this gimmick account belongs to needs an ass-whipping.

You seem to judge that which you fail to comprehend.
