All of mine were already mentioned for the most part.

Enya.

I find some of her tunes very soothing and relaxing but not in a boring kind of way. It really lets my mind wander when I 'actively' listen to it.

Amy Lee from Evanescence.

No, really.

I got drug along to an Evanescence show last year.

Surprisingly good. She sang My Immortal with only the piano to accompany her. Amazing voice. Nice range.

Does this post make me lame?

I'm surprised that no one so far has mentioned Lisa Gerrard (of Dead Can Dance). She was also the vocalist on the Gladiator soundtrack...I'm sure she's done other semi-mainstream stuff but I don't recall any of it offhand.

"Pretty" probably isn't quite the right word to describe her singing, but her voice is incredible. Try Dead Can Dance's "The Host of Seraphim" for a sample.

re, Aimee Mann.

I streamed the live "King of the Jailhouse" endlessly when i first heard it. very lovely.

When she's not doing the country-western thing, the tone of Norah Jones' voice gives me chills...

I love Diana Krall & Madeleine Peyroux's voices too.
