I loved the fact that they showed people taking down big pots with garbage hands. You know there will be idiots who now will always play 6d4d because "The Matador" played it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Wasn't "The Matador" the 64 of *spades*? Ooh, and did we just invent a new VVP hand name?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think there should be some sort of prize for the first person to post a (real) hand history where some idiot plays 6-4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and caps / pushes with it. Bonus if the guy wins the hand and the compares himself to The Matador.

Oh my god! I might be the Matador!

I was at the Tropicana playing 4-8 last Saturday. I got 4-6 of clubs in late position. I was chatting with the guy next to me and I said, "This is my favorite hand," and called. I flopped two pair and it held up to the river. If I only I knew I could've dropped a Matador line like, "Looks like I just lured you into the ring and cut you down. I'm known for that ability. But usually it's a young bull, not a 75-year-old woman."

Dammit, missed opportunity!

Haha, this made me laugh - got this from another message board that I frequent that was discussing the show - thought I'd share:

[ QUOTE ]
Did anybody TiVo the damn show? I missed the last 10 minutes because the Duke-State game ran over.

[/ QUOTE ]

"Are you afraid you may have missed something?

I didn't watch it until the end, but my guess is something like this is what happened:

Good looking Poker guy is at a poker table heads up with another guy. He says something like, "Poker is like a fine wine, you have to smell the cork before you take a sip".

Then the other guys says something like, "I noticed you checked after your intial bet, makes me think you need a diaper change."

Then the other guy said, "You kiss your mother with that mouth?"

Then the other guy said, "No, but I kissed your mother".

Then the other guy said, "Well, my mother's dead. So that makes you a necropheliac!"

Then the other guy said, "I'm all in"

Then the other guy calls

Then the not good looking guy throws over the second best hand and says, "You made a mistake rookie, see you at the nickle slots".

Then the good looking guy flips over some low connector off suit, giving him the nuts, and says, "I'll be over there counting your money".

Then the other guy looks shocked and angry and storms off all the time discrediting the other guys game.

Then the other guy rakes in the pot and says, "In the poker game of life, that guy is the bathroom attendant".

Fade to black.

Or something like that. "

Thanks for ruining the next 5 episodes, jerk.

I learned that all the top pros in town will rush over to start a game because a tourist has 7K to donate.

I'm sorry, Orange was Tim Roth. Madsen was Blonde. I don't know how I screwed that up.

It's obviously normal in Vegas for a 12 year old girl to win $14,000+ pots. This happens everywhere.

[/ QUOTE ]
The Cinncinnati kid was beating the biggest games as an early teenager. Unger was playing in some fairly big NYC games as a teenager. At the illegal places they don't ask you for ID.

It's hard to play in a casino, but I am sure there a lot of teenage semipros in illegal places or playing with a sibling or parent's account on the Internet.

A 12 year old girl beating a big game is a little of a stretch. And if she was a good player, what was she doing playing T6 unless she was in the blinds and pushing with that board.

Jesus, just watched the "behind the scenes" for the series, the creators basically had this to say, "the response from the poker community has been great, because of all the dead money and bad players that it brings in who want to get on TV."

Talk about tapping on the glass...

[/ QUOTE ]I wouldn't worry about something like that. Most people who play poker over-estimate their own playing ability and wouldn't think a comment like that applies to them anyway. They watch a few episodes of the WSOP or WPT and think they're experts. They probably think of themselves as being part of the above-mentioned "poker community", when in fact they are really the dead money and don't know it.

i learned it's a good idea to slow roll when you have the nuts, that's exactly the way you want to play to earn a good name! be sure to dump chips to total strangers in a tournament when he says he can get me a game with "The Matador," and make sure to talk when I am involved in each hand I am in. OH I gotta learn the finishing lines like "But you were playing like you only had one pair!" "No, I played like I actually have a pair," or whatever the hell that line was...always a good idea to add insult to injury to your opponents, that's good business! And yeah, gotta be careful for those black poker clubs, they might bust a gat out if i string bet! black people are so violent! (racism at it's finest anyone?? sigh...)The sad thing is that I will watch every single episode..it is an entertaining show.
