taking advantage of the rebump of this thread, I just want to confirm my idea that limping 22 UTG is at least EV neutral in a full ring game, but automuck in 6max? I ask here instead of HUSH because, well, this thread is here.

So what about suited connectors like 56-9T?

Is this why?

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop:Hero is UTG with 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Flop: (11.50 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
Hero bets, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO raises, Hero 3-bets, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO caps, Hero calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls.

Turn: (15.75 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players)

River: (20.75 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
Hero bets, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, CO calls.

Hero shows [ 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ] three of a kind, twos.
MP2 doesn't show [ 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ] high card queen. (Sweet play, brah.)
CO doesn't show [ K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ] a pair of kings.

Hero wins $92 from the main pot.

Final Pot: 23.75 BB

T9s is fine in a good game, probably down to 98s. 76s and the like are going in the muck until I'm in later position.

Playing a small pocket pair is easy postflop. Playing suited conn's is a bit tougher without the godsend that is position.

That was a rhetorical question.

yeah, ask yourself if you'd open raise it in MP2 in a full ring game. if so, open raise it UTG in 6 max. if not, chuck it.

that's a slight oversimplification, but it should serve as a good starting point. you can in fact call with small pairs and suited connectors like 98s UTG in a passive 6 max game, should you find one. but never open limping is a pretty decent strategy.

6max UTG, I usually raise 77+ and ditch the rest. I might raise 66 on my LAGgy days.

you mean UTG+1?

fold 22 to an UTG raise, unless the table is ridiculously loose.
