Default Re: The lesson ...

About 20 years ago, my (future) father-in-law had an Auto-Parts Store in Bronx, NY.

He was accosted by two armed men one evening as he left with the daily receipts. This occured on the street outside of the store.

After giving over the money, the men tried forcing him to come with them into a vacant building nearby.

He refused, knowing they would kill him there to eliminate the witness. He even told them, 'if you are going to shoot me, do it here'. At least on the street he would have a chance to get help.

For better or worse they listned to him and shot him in the gut right there on the street (remember he had already given them the money). And he did get help, and though it was touch and go for a while, he is still very much around today.

I don't think anyone can know how they will react to an event unless they are there. Even knowing the facts in advance, and with the best of intentions to act one way, under the gun, you may read the situation and react differently.

To sit and judge Greg's reaction is silly. It is enough to be thankful that he survived, and without having to spend an hour in a hospital - or worse.

And to those that are so insentive, as to use attempted robbery as an occasion to chastise his poker play I'll just give an appropriate response - the Bronx Cheer!
