Goodbye Empire Bonus. We have had some good times but it is time to end our relationship. You always treated me well and I will think of you fondly.

i have rakeback with empire and it actually SUBTRACTS from your rakeback. so not only are you NOT getting rack back, you're LOSING MONEY that you already made playing earlier. Thus, this is a skip for me.

I would run your math again, assuming you did any in the first place.

uh, do you do rakeback? if not, then shut up. when you clear a bonus (at least from my rakeback site) you have a negative MGR, thus your rakeback is negative, thus you LOSE money you had made. examples of days when i cleared empire bonuses:
MGR RAKEBACK
April 04, 2005 Empire Poker $-1.71 $-.43
April 10, 2005 Empire Poker $-8.43 $-2.11
April 21, 2005 Empire Poker $-32.94 $-8.24
May 15, 2005 Empire Poker $-85.98 $-21.50

explain.

I don't agree that a bonus is not as profitable as rakeback and agree that the poster is being a prick, but I think he makes a point. The bonus appears to be much less profitable on a rakeback plan because of the fact that you do lose MGR and also are not building MGR that you would be normally. I don't receive rakeback, is this not the way it works?

still dont see how i am wrong. care to explain? it seems to me like you've got the rolls reversed. what does this, taken from my rakeback site, mean to you, enlightened one?

"Any bonus dollars at Party Poker and skins adversely affect the rake, as your bonus is deducted from your MGR by the poker site". I read this, and presented examples, to say that bonuses can cause my MGR to be negative, thus the rakeback is negative. so while clearing my bonus ill have a negative4 rakeback of say, $20 for one day. That isn't me not making $20, it's me losing $20 I had already made (simple subtraction). 1500 raken hands at .50/1 and 1/2 means about $1500 in rake. say there are 10 people per table (not always the case) and that's $150, and i get 25%, about $40 of that. And that number is deducted from what rakeback I had already earned. Making the bonus $60 over 1500 hands, which is why i said it wasn't worth it and was planning on skipping it. what is wrong with this? im not trying to be a dick, im trying to understand why this is incorrect, as you swear it is.

Lets look at it this way. MGR is how much rake you generated for Empire. Lets say in a given month, you generate $1000 of rake. Your MGR is $1000. Your rakeback at 25% is $250.

Now lets say you cleared a $100 bonus in the middle of that same month. You generated $1000 in rake, but they gave you $100, so you only made $900 for Empire. Your MGR is $900. Your rakeback at 25% is $225.

So, if you have a rakeback deal @ 25%, a $100 bonus costs you $25 in rakeback, so you are netting $75 from the bonus.

Right, but in addition to the -$20 you've made $100 in bonus for a net of $80.

Bonus doesn't get subtracted from your rakeback, but from your MGR. So you can consider any Party bonus to be temporary 100% rakeback.

If your MGR is $150 and you got a $100 bonus, you'd get ($150 - $100) * 0.25 or $12.50 in rakeback plus $100 in bonus. If you got no bonus you'd get $37.50 in rakeback but no bonus. I would hope it's obvious which one is better.

Even when it goes negative, this is true. Suppose you had only $50 in MGR. With $100 bonus you'd get ($50 - $100) * 0.25 = -$12.50 in rakeback plus $100 in bonus for a total of $87.50. With no bonus you'd get $50 * 0.25 = $12.50 in rakeback and zero bonus. That's a difference of $75.
