Jesus, wut n00bs. This is, of course, taken from an early edition of the "Illustrated Adult Fantasy Magazine" (AKA wank fest for 14 year olds) Heavy Metal.

The issue in question had the aliens land and give the earth 100 years to come up with the best combatant to fight the alien's best fighter in hand-to-hand. If the human lost then earth would be destroyed. So, with 100 years to experiment, the earth bred the best superathlete fighter possible.

The kicker was that when the 100 years was up and the superman was standing, prepared, and ready for the alien ship to land the goddamn alien ship squashed him by accident while docking.
