im just not comfortable moving out of the kiddie pool, yet. my bankroll has been reduced every now and then due to expenditures, but it just isn't big enough for the 5 game on party. i think it is quite wrong to relate post count with poker skill.

I've never really understood the race to move up as quickly as possible.

[/ QUOTE ]

Because poker players are competitive by nature and want to make more money.

[/ QUOTE ]

I want to move up as fast as is safely possible in order to have something to show for my play instead of just a bankroll.

well, i just felt like dropping the uncensored f bomb, but i still dont think its any of your business

Again I don't see how this is hurting anyone, and I don't mean to offend anyone. But the people on this forum are people I debate hands with, and often times the debates focus on 2 contradictory ideas, with one winning out. In these debates it is often the case where it is hard to prove the correct idea and I am left with assuming someone is right because they have more knowledge of the game. I usually make the assumption that people with a high amount of posts are good unless I see evidence to the contrary. As this thread has demonstrated, many players with a large number of posts lack knowledge of non micro-limit games, and many can't beat games above the micro-limit. So getting a better understanding of the background of fellow 2+2ers does relate to me. Make sense?

It should be easy to distinguish who the respected posters are in the poker forums. Read other people's posts and see who posts the advice that makes the most sense, and who is agreed with the most.

If you are assuming that a player with a low post count gives poor advice you are hurting your game. If you assume that someone with a high post count doesn't play higher limits because they aren't good, you are wrong.

This statement seems incredibly contradictory and assumptuous. I guarantee you that going into any situation with thoughts like this is going to limit what you get from the conversation severely.

Some people are more risk averse.

[/ QUOTE ]

Probably the best explanation for my .5/1 ass.

[/ QUOTE ]

Illuminous, are you the guy with 180k hands of .5/1.00 and crushing it? Or am I thinking of someone else? If you are that is pretty risk averse.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I've noticed a few posters here with like a 1000 posts who play micro-limit. Just curious to know why. I can't imagine anyone with that amount of posts not being able to beat 5-10 or crush 3-6.

[/ QUOTE ]

Are you seriously equating "# of posts" to "poker skill" ??

(Let alone "# of micro posts" ??)

Adam

i'm probably not as good (yet) as most, but i go at my own pace and play for enjoyment.

I post a lot and despite what everyone has told me in the past, I'm just now moving up to $3/6. I've also only logged a few thousand hands of $2/4 and $1/2 full, FWIW. My roll should handle a $5/10 game, but I'm risk averse and am playing for fun rather than a job, so I haven't felt the desire to move up too quickly.
