What did any of you Jets fans think of the Fiedler pick up?

[/ QUOTE ]

Great move. There are few more capable back-ups in the league. We can certainly win if he has to play. But I'd rather not see him play.

There were a lot of very good BU's available this year: Garcia, Brad Johnson, Fiedler, dare I say Vinny. Glad we got one of them. And as much as I love Vinny I'm sort of glad it wasn't him. Sigh.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was just curious because I always thought he'd make a very good backup someplace. He was a reasonable starter in miami despite a really awful team, but the media down here seems to think it's hilarious that the Jets are stuck with him as a backup to a fragile QB.

He's a capable backup. That's about it. Chad will play all 16 games.

This clearly will put the Jets over the top.

[/ QUOTE ]

Clearly. August is the month of sweet dreams in the land of Gang Green. Their best defender is unsigned, they have a sore armed QB coming off major arm surgery, and Herm Edwards is still their coach. Yes, things are looking up.

The Miami media are morons, maybe. Maybe they're pissed that Miami stuck with Fiedler for so long, who knows. I mean, he's not going to win super bowls. But he was a solid qb on bunches of winning teams there. Didn't the Fins win 11 games with him, twice?

Hope you're right, been a Jet fan all my life. But I never get my hopes up too high.

Then you're unlike any Jet fan I've ever known. Basically the only time I don't have high hopes for the Jets is when the season is over or we're playing the Patriots. Otherwise, I'm thinking Lombardi.

Oh, add 3rd and long with Vinny to the list of times I'm not hopeful b/c you just know he's throwing a dump off pass to Richie Anderson. Thanksfully, that's over.

Umm, he sort of is. Its apples and oranges, but if he's healthy he's basically the biggest threat we've got.
