The frightening part is that the muslim youth are far more militant and angry than their parents were.

This isn't really true at all. Large portions of the French population and political scene are very right-wing.

One thing I've noticed is that everyone seems to be looking for great underlying themes to explain these riots - probelems with immigration, society, economic systems etc. While those certainly are extremely important, I also watched footage tonight of people praying in a mosque being tear-gassed on one of the early nights of rioting, before it had spread. THe power of heavy-handed responses to make things worse shouldn't be understimated.

Yeah that's right, blame it on the police. After all, Islam is known for its peaceful, prosperous, and cultured contribution to humanity. In fact, lets all go to Algeria for a family vacation.

The irony is that Algeria was given back to the Algerians, yet because of their incapacity to do anything positive there, they have to move to other countries, where they can't do anything positive either.

And the right wing only makes up about 20% of the French population. Muslims will make over half the population in the near future. The rest are those snotty socialists who are hopefully getting their cars torched.

Umm, Islam IS known for its peaceful, prosperous, and cultured contributions to humanity. While Europe was busy chopping each otherto bits for centuries the Arabs were writting books, creating math, an science. Look at the facts before you spew moreof your ignorant, racist crap.

Did you ever think that the reason Algeria is so messed up is because of what the French did there? Many of the old colonies are completely messed up because of their colonial past. Gasp, most of these old colonies arent even Islamic in nature.

He never said anything racist.

I would say that the Islamic Empire didn't start writing books, music, or math until they had conquered and converted everybody they could.

You seem to talk out of your ass a lot. Change my opinion of you and please add some historical context (facts and dates) to this. Lazy links to wikipedia would do fine.

Your knowledge of history, arts and mathematics is obviously limited. All of the good things to emerge from the "Islamic" world were really of Persian origin, and much became stagnant after the introduction of the Islamic religion. And to deny that Europe is the hub of arts and sciences is ludicrous.

"Did you ever think that the reason Algeria is so messed up is because of what the French did there? Many of the old colonies are completely messed up because of their colonial past. Gasp, most of these old colonies arent even Islamic in nature."

Again, your knowledge of history is awful. France brought civilization to many primitive cultures. Colonialism brought Africa out of the dark ages, and it was the communists who brought Africa back to the dark ages from the 1950's onwards forcing the colonialists to leave (all to the joy of socialists back in Europe). Now what do you have? A bunch of hippies like Geldof trying to bring food to the starving and near anarchist African nations when he should have carried an FN FAL in the war in Rhodesia.

And what on Earth did France do in the old colonies that gives Africans reason to not have sorted out and fix the situation in 40 years? Give them literacy, technology?

so how is this going to play out? Will these riots change French people's opinion on the U.S.'s war on terrorism? Will this spread to other countries?

These are all just questions people.

Muslim immigrants come from intolerant cultures, which persecute others with honor killings, honor rapes, murdering non-Muslims, etc..... Is it any surprise they act this way. Obviously I'm not saying ALL Muslims immigrants make poor citizens. To make such a statement would be an absurd exaggeration. To say 100% of all Muslim immigrants make poor citizens is silly. The number is no higher than 98%................

Obviously since France is such a hell-hole, these outstanding citizens will renounce their French citizenship and move to back to Algeria (aka the paradise of the Muslim world).

I am incredibly embarassed to be from the same state as you, when I read your location it literally felt like I was punched in the stomach... here I am tring to show people that not all Texans are redneck hicks, and you prove me wrong.

Mmm, racism. Because all of the Muslim immigrants in America are the cause of crime here, why don't you check your numbers, you'd be surprised.

Btw, Im ex-miltary intel, and while I was working on operation Noble Eagle (suppression of terrorist cells in America) one interesting thing that continually came up was that of all the cells we knew about, less than 50% were made up of Muslim citizens or immigrants.
