I almost miss the days before poker was big. I look around at all the hacks you see at major tournaments or high stakes games and it's just revolting.

[/ QUOTE ]

Quit playing then.

I doesn't exactly matter how much I make per month, a cut of $2500/month is still going to hurt. Yes, I can still afford my rock'n'roll lifestyle. But $30k/year made for some kickass vacations!

They add blackjack and side bets giving them an interest in how the flops come. The already large group of players who think the games are rigged will have even more reason to believe so now.

[/ QUOTE ]

damn, i didn't realize that til now. they really should remove those flop bets from their software. it will just give the fish another bullet for their conspiracy theories. i am not realy happy about the blackjack being there either, since some of the fish will tilt away their money str8 to party, without me getting a cut first. maybe its time to move to vegas. live poker is much more fun anyways.

No, if you read what I said you'd understand that I was talking to those of you who are saying they can't make it as a pro without rakeback. (eg. the dude who replied that this was his "pink slip"). I assume the rest see this as a pay cut but not the end of their poker careers.

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't say this was my 'pink slip'. I made a statement to emphasize that now is the time to be sympathetic to many 2+2ers that lost a substantial amount of income. I don't think now is the time to be piling on them. Kind words...don't call them a bunch of babies and such. I Imagine many affiliates really got a kick in the nuts today. A business they spent many hours and resources on took a huge blow. Regular players took a beat as well.

Here is how it lays out for me. Of course, some of my business will stay on the skins. Some will move to other, rakeback friendly sites. The question is do I stay on party itself. The loss of rakeback is about 0.55BB/100hands for me. Multiply that by 50,000 hands/month. Bye bye 275 BB/month...3300BB/year... ouch. Obviously, a 0.55 BB/100 hands doesn't make the difference between me being a winning player and a losing player, but it does make my old job as an accountant a much more attractive offer.

I think for many, 3600 BB is a huge deal. Perhaps, the difference of making it for a living or not. They are not a bunch of babies for getting upset. They would be similarly upset with a rake hike. We are all at risk for this, and, IMCO, we should all stand up for players' rights on the sites. Our voices of protest might somehow reach the folks at party. Perhaps, they have a grand scheme that involves making us even more money than they already have by setting up such a beautiful ocean of fish (Yes, I still thank party for that and the resulting steady income). I know for certain that party needs a better way to communicate with its FREQUENT players. Prepare us. Show us a grand plan. Let us know how its bottom line will improve.

It seemed as though you were happy that 'less deserving' players would have to bite the bullet. Most of these players are a part of the community set up here for discussion of poker and contribute and/or lurk regularly. It seemed harsh to take such pleasure in their loss of rakeback.

[/ QUOTE ]

You act as if party should be kissing our asses and run everything by us because we play so many hands. Did you ever consider that they probably don't like all of that money leaving their system every month? I'm sure they'd much rather have a few dozen fish than the 12 tabling sharks taking all of the money home with them.

My question is, Doesn't Party have contracts with the other sites? How can they just snap it off all at the same time? The skins spent tons of money on marketing, you'd think that they would all have "rights" to the other players, at least for a specific time frame.

If the top 10% best players leave, the 10% below them starting winning instead, you don't change the distribution of the money very much, if at all.

And if they don't, I would guess they're firing a lot of lawyers right now.

Although your wording is a bit offensive I agree with your message 100%.

In business the losers whine about changing business conditions. The winners gather information about it, realize they are themselves responsible for their own situation (and thus do not put any anger towards the moves of other forces in the market), adjust, and move on.

Those not tough enough to realize this should not be self-employed (pro poker player) but get a regular 9-5 job.

Since when do you have to be a professional poker player to post on this board?

I also think there's a lot of whining on these posts. I agree with the OP and some of the other posters here.

Maybe I'm not upset because I have never had rakeback until 2 weeks ago, so I haven't been paid yet.
I've only played for my winnings, I'm not a pro, I don't depend on poker and I only play 2-4 so far.

However, I would sum up my opinion on this topic with the following:

Neither Party nor any other site owns you anything. It's been a nice time with rakeback. Now it (might) be over. You have to adapt. Maybe you'll change sites to get a good *r* deal, maybe you'll play entirely on party, maybe you'll quit poker. Whatever you decide to do is up to you. Yes I realise it hurts you, but what good is posting about it? It's not like your complaints are going to change anything.
