It's doesn't sound too great typed out, but it cracks me up whenever I remember it. Sam (taking Diane into his office): Coach, I don't want to be bothered. Coach: Who does? Yep, I was right, it reads out as not funny at all. |

Am I the only one absolutely baffled by grown people liking South Park?
I remember in like 6th grade when it first came out, our town didn't have CS, so we had to get the tapes shipped in from other town and circulate them, we ate it up, jokes about retards and bodily functions and cartoons saying faggot, yea great. I know they have some social/political satire similar to the simpsons or whatever, but jesus it just seems like filth. I thought the world had forgotten about it until I reached college, and I was absolutely shocked that it was still on the air and people over 14 could like it. What am I missing? |

Damn all the stuff I loved back then, the Chicken Song was my fave though
Its the time of year Now that Spring is in the air When those two wet gits with their girly curly hair Make another song for moronic holidays That nauseate-ate-ate In a million different ways From the shores of Spain To the coast of Southern France No matter where you hide You just can't escape this dance Hold a chicken in the air Stick a deckchair up your nose Buy a jumbo jet And then bury all your clothes Paint your left knee green Then extract your wisdom teeth Form a string quartet And pretend your name is Keith Skin yourself alive Learn to speak Arapahoe Climb inside a dog And behead an eskimo Eat a Renault Four with salami in your ears Casserole your gran Disembowel yourself with spears The disco is vibrating The sound is loud and grating Its truly nauseating Let's do the dance again Hold a chicken in the air Stick a deckchair up your nose Yes you'll hear this song in the holiday discos And there's no escape in the clubs or in the bars You would hear this song if you holidayed in Mars Skin yourself alive Learn to speak Arapahoe Climb inside a dog And behead an eskimo Now you've heard it once Your brain will spring a leak And though you hate this song You'll be humming it for weeks Hold a chicken in the air Stick a deckchair up your nose Buy a jumbo jet And then bury all your clothes La la la la la La la la la la la la La la la la la La la la la la la laaaaaaa TC is classic BTW. I love Red Dwarf, Black Adder, Python, Towers and everything, but I suspect the best show ever was Spitting Image at it's peak. Lori [/ QUOTE ] I think I missed a lot of the peak cos it did go downhill, I causght the end off the thatcher years but was mainly major, I prob started watching it 88-89 I guess not really watching the news and knowing politics took the edge off it, not sure how well it will have aged. What was the one with Rik Mayell the new statesmen? Was ok at the time but again suspect it wont have aged too well. |

They still show it on some of the channels
I believe it was "The new statesman" and it has retained it's humour really well I think. The odd thing back then was that all of these shows actually made politics interesting to many people (I was one of them), rather than the other way around. I could probably still name most of Thatcher's cabinet if I had a few minutes, but wouldn't be able to name any of Blair's without really deep thought and a lot of time. Lori |
