Default Re: Question re: EV allins in the first hour of a live tournament

Wow this topic rears its ugly head again. Like someone else said, if you are the best player there then maybe you can pass on a 51-49 edge but if you pass on a 80-20 edge you're not the best player.

I think the best way of looking at it is that its a coinflip, but your opponent needs to be right 5 times in a row to win.

Agreed.

For some nerdy reason, I'm interested in this theoretically.

Theoretically speaking, you should be careful about taking poker advice from people who don't need the money.

to be fair, i don't think that PP ever tried to pass it off as advice.

I actually did "bear with you" Aaron and I have a question for you.

How often (what % of the time) do you think the very best player wins a tournament with a good structure?

For the sake of simplicity, I think you should assume a 100-person tournament with the structure Aaron described.
