I'm realyy itching to know what he had now. Do you think he calls the turn with a King or queen and then decides to the muck the river? Very difficuly to put him on a hand here...

Well surfdoc, there is no substitute for experience...it appears that I am "way off" on the QJ thing...thanks for setting me straight.

As for online poker generally, it has been both a blessing and a curse at the same time. The blessing part arises from the fact that since June 2004 when I got online, I have on average made about 3 times more money on a monthly basis than what I used to make playing live. I have also needed to play only about half as many hours on a monthly basis than what I used to play live. This gives me more time with the family, playing golf, playing cricket etc. all of which I love doing.

So, all that is great.

But a funny thing has happened along the way. I no longer like playing poker. I still enjoy talking about it and posting on 2+2 (usually while at work...heh). But I simply don't enjoy playing poker anymore. While I only play 3 games simultaneously (and not 6 to 8 like some of the other cats around here), poker has still become way more auto-pilot than what it used to be when playing live. Because of that and perhaps also because of the sheer number of hands taht i have now played, poker is not fun for me anymore. I now play strictly for monetary reasons. That's too bad.

Perhaps, one way to fix that and inject some enjoyment into the game again is to get into shorthanded play. I will make it a point to do that within the next few months.

yah skp, this has happened to me as well. i got into shorthanded myself and it revived my interest a bit for a while, but i got bored again. im going to try to employ an aggressive move-up strategy in the future to get my interest rolling. hopefully i dont go bust in the process.
