[ QUOTE ] My honest assessment is that you have an average understanding of the game. Change that to above avg and I agree with you. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] This is what annoys people. |

[/ QUOTE ] What? That I think Im better than avg? Avg players are break even by definition. Ive been winning consistently for 3 years and close to a million hands. How can I be avg? Im not being a smart ass. Im serious. Hell, probably 80% of 2+2ers are better than avg. |

Arguing about how good you are is what annoys people.

Boy, there is a lot of ego-rattling here - I learn stuff from both posters' posts but Fimbul pretty clearly started the personal attacks in the linked thread so I would have to say that he is in the wrong on this one..
As for laying down KK to a re-raise push, whilst I can imagine circumstances where you had good enough info to do it, I don't think I ever actually have. I think if I had 500+ hands logged with a player with PFR of 1-3% I would seriously consider getting away from KK with deep stacks if he pushed all-in pre-flop with a re-raise. Players that tight just don't do that with QQ or below and he has 6 ways to hold AA and only one to hold KK. Anyone who thinks it's an open and shut question at all stakes and at all levels has to be oversimplfying surely? |

I know you're trying to let this thread die, had to add my bit.
I'm a lurker here, and for the record, your advice is good reading. Unlike some of these jokers, you offer your own common sense and experience openly, which is what this forum is about. Any idiot can say 'but Ray said...' and be correct, but no one learns anything. Regarding fim, what you said in the other thread summed it up pretty nicely. BZ |

Fimbulwinter has a girlfriend, he is my hero. Go fimbulwinter!
You seem a bit weak-tight from what I've seen by the way, and me and fimbulwinter and his girlfriend don't like weak-tighties much. Oh well, kids these days.. |

This whole thread and debate is dumb. I got into it once with Iceman about politics, but so what? I have no problem with the guy. This is a poker forum and most of what he has to say on that subject is pretty good. He also seems to actually want to help people who are learning.
The thing about poker is that there is very often no absolutely correct right answer. How many times have you seen the answer, "it depends"? If you want to get something out of these forums you have to learn to read critically everything that is posted. Figure out which advice you agree with and which you don't and why. Understanding the why, not memorizing the "answers" will make you a better player. As for the "I'm great" or "You suck" stuff, which is in many, many posts, it's just noise. |
