Re: How to Play KK when A flops?
this is what you do.
think about what he might have. he raised pf, an ace is very possible. think about what he thinks you might have. you 3 bet pf, an ace is very possible. yet when he checks and you bet, he isnt afraid. i think i fold there. more sophisticated players at the higher levels cannot be read as easily, but at 2/4 im just dumping it. |

[ QUOTE ]
A lot of TAGs won't cap even JJ/AKo OOP. QQ seems iffier, the 2+2 SS consensus is to cap that almost all the time, but a lot of players I see still don't. [/ QUOTE ] [sarcasm] And with good reason. This, by the way, is what happens when you try to cap preflop with QQ at 3/6: [/sarcasm] Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero raises, 4 folds, MP3 3-bets, 1 fold, Button calls, 2 folds, Hero caps, MP3 calls, Button calls. River: (15.66 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, MP3 bets, Button calls, Hero calls. Final Pot: 18.66 BB Results: Hero has Qd Qc (two pair, queens and tens). MP3 has Ac Ah (two pair, aces and tens). Button has Kd 7d (two pair, tens and sevens). Outcome: MP3 wins 18.66 BB. To be honest, I wasn't being completely sarcastic. I'm still adjusting to 3/6. But I've adjusted enough that I knew I was making a huge crying call on the river. |

Re: How to Play KK when A flops?
I read through most of the posts here and no one mentioned check the flop. Is that way off?

Re: How to Play KK when A flops?
I've read several posts about this, with conflicting opinions.
My thinking is that in a 2/4, you run into many players who will play any ace. Without any read on the guy, I would feel very badly about calling the flop bet, simply due to the fact that the dynamite card fell on the flop. This same rule does not apply to lower pairs and lower overcards. I probably would play it like you did if I had, say, TT and a J hit the board(if I had raised preflop). But...I don't like the call on the flop, anyway, because of the checkraise. If the guy is checkraising, he either has an Ace, or is trying to feel you out for how you liked that ace. Either way, you either have to four-bet or fold here. The call just puts you out of the driver's seat. At least, that's how I see it. |
