Nate, why is it you allways have to put all your eggs in one basket. Everything is so totaly black and white with you.

Im not saying that the global society is going to crash, but it is perfectly reasonable to think that peak oil may casue some problems for the world as there is likely to be a painfull transition phase from the worlds current total dependence on oil to whatever energy source we replace it with.

Actually I think we agree because my critique is aimed at the extreme alarmists like Kunstler who believe we'll have a total breakdown of society into anarchy. I certainly agree that there will be a difficult transition but only in the form of a recession.
