Default Re: Your money is not secure on Party Poker

I do not work for any online site, I have consulted for other sites and I am one of the biggest online affiliates there is. I have no agenda against Party Poker other than the fact that they allowed someone to steal my family members money. My point was to let people know that they allowed this, nothing more, nothing less.

Party Poker is free to come on here and refute my account of the facts.

That is likely a great suggestion.

Thank you god. I am actually quite surprised at many of the responses but I am trying to get as much of the story as I can out.

that is why I am trying to get as much of the circumstances out there. She was severely wronged by 2 entities, the thief and Party Poker.

I think people play within their comfort level. This is certainly within her comfort level.

I have done seminars for UB, though I have never been in their employ. I guarantee you I would not bring online poker under any scrutiny whatsoever unless someone had been severely wronged. In this case, things seem particularly bad.

If you had taken reasonable measures to secure your e-mail account, this incident would have never taken place. This is in no way condoning the actions of the thief, but you simply must take measures to protect yourself when dealing with online transactions of any kind.

Sin, I'm not sure what this means. There is simply no way you can prevent someone from forging the From header in an email. It's the electronic equivalent of writing a fake return address on an envelope and dropping it in a mailbox somewhere. The return address does not guarantee that the mail originated from that place.

It means that I take sufficient measures to ensure that nobody knows what e-mail addresses I use for Neteller and online poker sites. If they don't know my e-mail address, then they can't forge an e-mail.

Fair enough, but this shouldn't be necessary. If I have to be afraid to give my real email address to a large, reputable online poker room, what does that say about the future of online poker?

Party really dropped the ball if everything beanie writes is accurate.

this one's easy why all the fuss?

your fault- not keeping your passwords secure, shame on you.

party's fault- allowing an account to be switched, accessed etc. with only the requirement of an email address seems terribly insecure and irresponsible, shame on them.

move on it's just a 2K mistake
