I will go with Civilization 2. I still play that game from time to time. Totally awesome.

I think we've already established that Civ. 2 is post-1995.

Goddamnit. I refuse to participate then.

Command and Conquer. Those Kings Quest/Police Quest games were kinda fun too, typing lewd things into the console and watching your guy do them was absolutely hillarious to me in elementary school.

1st place: Spectre. Come on, it's the first truly 3d game for god's sake

2nd place: Marathon. Doom may have invented FPS but Marathon took it to a completely different level. Marathon was the first game ever to include a level editor and I maintain it's still the best level editor ever created.

1. Wolfenstein 3D (how has this not been mentioned yet?)
2. Minesweeper

Edit: Commander Keen was awsome too.

Because it's Doom, for all intents and purposes. The only difference is that you're fighting Nazis, which is cool, but zombies are WAY more fun to kill than nazis. I mean, do you turn into a Nazi when Hitler bites you?

I didn't think so.

not to mention doom has momentum, height (to some extent) and was generaly way cooler. Also there were tons of level editors for the doom games. None of them were very good.

In case this is unclear:

It is Civilization and every other game is a MILE behind. Civ is the greatest video game ever made.

Now if we're talking second place, it's X-Com or Ultima 6.
