You shouldn't be lecturing anyone on what they should do, using a word like Jap.

[/ QUOTE ]

Jap short for Japanese. I am British and get called a Brit all the time. Jap dosnt have any negative connotations here.

I already donated $100 to the Red Cross. And I don't think the United States government should give anything. The entire concept of foreign aid is completely unconstitutional. The American people are generous, and they will give.

[/ QUOTE ]
Unconstitutional and immoral. It's outright theft is what it is. Stealing from me to give my earnings to someone else.

Its telling about the psyche of the American people that in the wealthiest country where its citizens enjoy the highest standard of living, that these same citizens would probably have a revolution if the govt had the temerity to take a mere 1 cent extra in income tax even if that 1 cent was iron fenced for forieghn aid.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. It is telling. What it tells you is that we believe that the fruits of our labors are ours alone to distrubute or spend as we see fit, and we don't like thieves, whether they be government-sponsored or not.

I submit that many individuals believe that the government is the best tool for facilitating that charity

[/ QUOTE ]
If you really believe this, you're an idiot.

[ QUOTE ]
and that the charity doled out by the gov represents the collective charitable will of the nation.

[/ QUOTE ]
Get lost you fu[/b]cking collectivist bitch. Neither you nor I have no idea what thew collective charity of the peoiple is because the people unfortunately aren't free to be charitable. Instead they're subjected to immoral, government-sponsored theft.

[ QUOTE ]
in terms of the multitude of deserving people and nations receiving a fair amount.

[/ QUOTE ]
They're only deserving of it if they earn it. Need does not equate to merit. And your very use of the term "receiving a fair amount" shows you to be the communist bastard that you are. You want deserve? You deserve a bullet in the head.

Ya I have to say the US government wasnt set up to carry out any "collective philantropic impulse"....I mean seriously you socialists probably should move to Canada if your view of the govt is this whacked out and out of touch with mainstream American thought.

Seeing it would take 5 Earths to sustain the consumption of your average North American (If every human was to consume the same)they are in position to be a lot more generous.

[/ QUOTE ]

Do you have a source besides your ass for this figure?

I'd like to officially nominate your post as the dumbest thing anyone has written on this forum all year.

Default Re: Arguing over this is so stupid

Why does anyone care which country gives more or less money than others? This whole thing is stupid and pointless. Hundreds of thousands of people are dead you you guys want to bicker about who is giving more money than who? Grow up!

I'm perfectly happy with the initial amount of money that the US has contributed. And I think it's great that so many other countries are contributing what they are contributing. All that matters is that the people who need help are going to get it. The rest is all bullshit.

There are any number of reasons for the US to give aid to a foreign country that has been subjected to this kind of tragedy. First and foremost, its the HUMAN thing to do. Secondly, from a purely political point of view, it would do WONDERS for the current adminstration's goal of winning the hearts and minds of the islamic populace to be seen caring for their part of the world and doing something to make their lives better and not worse. One of the most affected areas, the province of Aceh, is an area of strong muslim sepratism, and we could do wonders there.

Also, lets just make it perfectly clear, the US is donating $15 million to the relief effort, and extending a line of credit, for the other $20 million. Considering that pResident Crackhead is spending more than $40 million on his inauguration, a figure that was a travesty when there was merely a shooting war going on, but has now become a complete FARCE given this event, and the $40 million does not include the cost of the security details. THOSE my friends are the legendary REPUBLICAN values....

I have plenty of literay sources. I also saw it quoted on TV yesterday, during the Queens christmas lecture at Oxford. I am multi tabling at the moment but when I finish I will look for online sources that you can confirm personnaly. This gives you the chance to delete your post that can only reflect you in a deeply moronic light.

If you think I made it up then you have to be dumber than I allready thought you were.
