I think you are right in that it is not intelligence, but logic that makes religion so hard to believe in for NTs in general (I am ENTJ btw).

There are plenty of smart folks who are not "logical" in the strict definition of the word (e.g. I think Clinton is ENFP and would not be described as "logical" as I would define it here, but there is no question that he is a very smart man).

OK, now I've gotta ask: what the hell is an INTx?? Or is it one of those deals where if you have to ask, you aren't one....

Well, I've read a small sample of the posts in these threads. I have absolutely no idea why David started the thread in the first place. But here's what I got out of it: There are a lot of people who have irrational beliefs about how the world works. And, as a poker player, I should like that. They will make me money. Such as when my brother calls a huge bet with his gutshot, based on a "feeling". Nothing can change the mathematics behind proper poker playing, and people who think otherwise will only be making donations to my bankroll.

Maybe that has nothing to do with this thread, but that's what it said to me.

While thinking about David's "Can God..." thread, I came to an unappealing conclusion.

<< snip >>

If my reasoning thus far is correct, the conclusion is that (in the CG thread) David would rather ridicule Christians than be a good teacher. Since David takes great pride in his teaching ability, I find this surprising and disappointing.

Hi cowboy,

Yes. And it's not even close. Do you see why?

Try your questions at the local PTA and see what responses you get. Albeit most of those people are not very smart, but maybe being too smart (and logical) hurts us here.

[/ QUOTE ]

I like how you didn't imply that being smart and being logical are one and the same. I know plenty of logical people who mastered the rules of logic, but just aren't very smart. Being bright and strictly adhering to a rule set are completely different things.

You can play with logic quite a bit, and with a few cleverly placed lies here and there say just about anything. Sometimes it's tricky to find where the lie itself is hidden.

I really like the fact that you've been able to convince so many people that you're right about so many things, despite showing no desire to be nice in your information delivery.

Imagine how far religions would have gone if the initial "salesmen" used your tactics to spread the word.

An invisible man runs the universe. Do you see why? If not, put this book down immediately, and never be religious again. You're destined for hell so you better invest in a bunch of ice cubes.

It is simply a classification of personality type expressed
by Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Also, x= J/P and
this is not related to Wellhausen's form criticism!

Work has been done with MBTI to establish its reliability
and validity which originated with Jung's typology. The
eight relevant letters are:

I/E for introvert/extravert
N/S for intuition/sensing
T/F for thinking/feeling
J/P for judging/perceiving

Various tests are available for subjects to determine with
some reliability their MBTI (e.g., I have done quite a few
of these tests and I am always either INTJ or INTP).

An interesting post earlier mentioned that the population
that answered a poll about their own MBTI type on 2+2 was
very strongly biased (more than in the general population!)
towards the types INTx.

Although it is rare for an INTx to be a theist, I am certain
they do exist!

Ah, thanks for 'splaining it for me. So I took one o' them there MBTI tests and my score came back WGCC. I asked them what that meant and it turns out it stands for Warms up kinda slow-like, Groping in the dark, Confused, and Clueless. Imagine. New categories just for me. I'm so proud.

Here is the poll I was referring to

Note Ed Miller is about 6 posts in.

... and ChrisBrown is about 10 after that and is probably the only one of her type on the board.

Clark and ZeeJustin in there as well. Interesting stuff.
