Tough to lose hand #1 of a big tourney. I imagine your friend was looking forward to it for quite a while.

I would remind your friend that you can still make great plays in bad situations, and he might have been able to lay down the QQQ to the river bet and salvaged T3200 in chips.

If not T1700 is still ~70XBB, and certainly enough chips to play some hands.

Thank your friend for sharing, I'm sure its painful.
