Re: What low paying job did you have before poker?(or still have)
I had a paper route from age 9 to 13 after school everyday. In highschool I worked in a KFC/Pizza Hut Express about 25 hours a week during school and 45-50 in the summer. During my freshman year of college I had a lot of jobs, but totaled at most 20 hours a week. I tutored, lab TA'd, worked in the dining hall, catered at school functions, graded homework, and did student security every weekend. My parents told me I needed to start saving for university when I was 9, now I'm making $80/hr and taking a year off.

Re: What low paying job did you have before poker?(or still have)
i sold candy door to door. it was this faux non profit racket.
"hi, im kevin and im with kids of america, which is an orginization to keep kids off the streets, away from drugs, and out of trouble. if i could have just a minute of your time to show you some of our fundrasing items. lol, what a bunch of bs. the candy was 5 a (tiny) box so not many people bought it, but after they told us they werent interested we would ask them if they'd like to make a small donation and most people would give you a dollar just to get rid of you. we never told our pimp, er i mean team leader about the donation scam, so thats where we made most of our money. i was a bus boy at a japanese steak house. free sake, yay! im white and every table i went to there was one comedian who would ask me what part of japan i was from, i swear i heard that lame joke 15 times a day. i worked there for like 2 weeks and on lunch one day i ran into a friend who's uncle was letting them use his shore house for the rest of the summer. like two weeks till school started. they were leaving in a few hours so i told them to give me a minute, id go quit and come with. when i toold my boss that i was quiting, um effective immediately, he said "you cant" i was like "yes, yes i can, in fact i just did." him: no you cant. me: yep him: no you have to work me: really, i dont this went on for quite some time till me: ok, im leaving now him: no, you have to stay me; walks away. bugged me out. i sold septic tank cleaner over the phone. well actually i tried, but never sold any. you try cold calling people who live in areas without sewers and get them to give you thier credit card to charge them 600 dollars for what was effectively saw dust. damn the man! save empire records |

Hoisting the BS flag. you were either maknig more money then that or working far less then "almost full time" Goverment takes hardly no taxes at all at that income level, not $3 out of every $5 for sure. [/ QUOTE ] yeah i meant close to the fact that I was a "slave" to the US government. I worked less hours and got paid about 5.15 an hour. |

Re: What low paying job did you have before poker?(or still have)
I think I may have been working part time, I just know I remember getting 2 week pay checks and they'd be for about $150 after taxes... and I was working what I felt alot of hours.
And how can I forget the worst job i've ever worked.. UPS. If anyone knows anything about UPS u'd realize what a joke it is. Actually it's not even funny, its down right cruel. I was a sorter at UPS where you lift packages that weigh up to 70lbs for 3hours straight at $7 an hour. After days at work there I would be dead tired unable to even turn the steering wheel on my car when changing lanes on the drive home. Painful on the back and joints as well. Not to mention the factory which we worked in was hotter than outside, it was awful.. if it was 95 degrees outside, it was even hotter inside. I truly felt like an immigrant. Worst. Job. Ever. |

Re: What low paying job did you have before poker?(or still have)
I worked a 45 hour week for 2 months as an intern this summer and recieved a check in the amount of $300 for my efforts. I also paid $7/day for parking. Needless to say I didn't come out too far ahead.
