I agree, it's likely a bluff and a scam. That being said, acting in violence against this person could likely turn what was originally a bluff (and could've been handled with a player ban) into something far worse.

[/ QUOTE ]
Note that I never said to actually beat him up. If he says he's going to call the cops, merely saying "go ahead and call the cops, and while you're at it, call an ambulance too" will most likely cause this lowlife to get out in a hurry, being the spineless hole-dwelling creature that he is.

[/ QUOTE ]

True. As unlikely as it is, I believe declaring an act of violence is considered "assault" but it doesn't include battery until you physically touch the person. HIGHLY unlikely it would be an issue, but then again, courts have awarded millions to some idiot for spilling coffee on her own lap.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't want to derail this thread about frivolous lawsuits, but contrary to popular opinion, the McDonald's coffee lawsuit was certainly not a frivolous lawsuit.

The actual facts about the case.

Good lord, that's a lot of references to four-legged mammals in one reply. You own a ranch or did you just get back from the OTB?

Wow, go away for a bit and look at what happens. Anyway the first time it happened we had only been playing for about 45 minutes so the host gave all of us our buyin back and we started over. The second time it happed it was much later in the night and three of said that we weren't giving up a dime, the host and the guy that brought him gave him his money back after listening to a sob story.

This problem, like many others, is best solved with the banhammer. Don't you own one?

Player ban? Yes. Publishing their names and pictures on every poker site and telling every person you know that hosts a game, yes.

Although not as ugly, we had a regular bring two "friends" to the same game. Turned out they were regular casino players from LA. They had more skill than most of us, so it wasn't too much fun.

We gave him a one game suspension and barred the "pros" for life. Geez, it's a home game, not the Commerce Casino!

So, rather than ban a guy we WANT in the game (he brought the studs because he always leaves his money there and this was some kind of get-even play), we just put him on the bench.

That's crazy. They played within the rules, it's just that they knew how to play poker? This should be posted in the "I didn't get invited back because I played too well" thread, not the "Ban the cheaters" thread.

Edit: Wow. I guess you DID post there.

I would have told him to call the cops.

I would just not let him invite anymore people.

[/ QUOTE ]

I second this.

I don't know about other states, but unless you were raking your game - the cops aren't going to give a rats ass.

If any gambling is illegal in your state - then he's just as gulity as well - so call his bluff-- offer to dial the number.
