Yea, sorry for the intro comment in the OP now that I've thought about it more, and heard some comments. I like your play in the hand as well. Even though the board is draw heavy, it wouldn't be right to put me on a hand such as what I had. Out of curiousity, if I check that flop, you are betting it right? [/ QUOTE ] Draw heavy or not would have effected me raising in no way in this situation. You led, if you had a draw you certainly wern't folding so why scare you for the turn? But yeah, definitly was ready to lead that, I believe you suprised me when you bet. |

I gotta disagree with you that it was a "bad beat".

I agree. you're aggressively building a pot with two nut draws and other draws that will probably still win.

Ok, well given that I was 3-bet PF by someone I thought was a 2+2'er in MP, I have to assume that he has a hand here. I would say 99+, or AQs+. This significantly reduces many of those outs as with this flop I would be dominated even by hitting several of those outs. I can't assume my A's are clean unless he has QQ, 99 or TT. There are the 9 clubs + 3 queens (one queen is a club) for my 12 totally clean outs to the nuts (and in this case he still had a redraw on me for the boat). If I hit one of my 3 T's, I can't assume I'm good against anything except for 99. I have 12 totally clean outs, and the rest are discounted to little or no value. [/ QUOTE ] but if you think this person is a 2+2'er, you can open up that range of hands somewhat. he's raising first in, remember, and I can't count the number of times I've seen the discussion about open limping in MP being the root of all evil. not that it necessarily makes your ace outs clean, but just something to keep in mind. |

I don't dislike either of the plays here. The AT has 4 to the nut flush and gutshot nut straight. Betting the flop isn't horrible, in my opinion. Getting raised isn't so hot, but you can check/call the turn and check/fold the river if you don't improve.
KK waits until the turn to pop the bettor, because he wants to get him on the expensive streets. Based on preflop and the flop betting, it might be TT/JJ/QQ, all of which he beats, so he caps. Then, you need to call the 1 bet on the river because the pot is big. |
