Re: Trip Report: Wife\'s Family\'s Cookout
[ QUOTE ]
Got stuck at work late on Friday, then stuck in traffic on the way home (F-ing NASCAR race - half of connecticut was on the Mass Pike). So I get into character and cheerily ask, "What time should we leave tomorrow for the cookout." The Warden says, "Do you really feel like going?" I say, "Of course. We haven't seen them in a while." She says, "Cause I really don't feel like it. We have a lot of work to do around the house." I said it was up to her, no big deal. Win-win. [/ QUOTE ] Well played. You obviously recognized this trap and did not fall for it. I wonder if your feelings would have been different if it weren't for the boy with cancer? In my mind that makes a big difference. I don't like being around sick people with terminal diseases (even if they are getting better). It's not that I think cancer is contagious . . . I just don't know how to feel or act and it makes me uncomfortable. My couch makes me comfortable. |

Re: Trip Report: Wife\'s Family\'s Cookout
Do you and your wife really feel this way or are you just making funny for OOT? Is it really a pain in the ass to go show some love for the little guy with cancer?

You know those hands where you don't raise the turn and fold to a 3-bet because sometimes you have the best hand and sometimes you will suck-out if you don't, well, ni han.

how'd the doubleheader go? [/ QUOTE ] We dropped both games. It was also about 90 degrees and very humid, so I was wiped. Game 1: scoreless heading into the bottom of the 8th. Our pitcher is tired, throwing mostly breaking balls. Drills a guy with two outs, single, double, and we're down 2-0. We tie it up in the top of the 9th (2-run single by me). We bring another pitcher in who gives up a jack in the bottom of the 9th. Game 2: I go 3-4 with two doubles, but we get spanked 5-2. I bat 4th and led off three innings. The opposing pitcher had amazing stuff (for our league, anyway). Only one of the runs he gave up was earned. We'll need to win 10 of our last 15 games to make the playoffs. Not looking good for the defending champs. |
