I think my credibility is dependant on the person reading. There are many that agree and many that disagree with me.

I have the same dilemna... I used to play a ton of FPS/RTS games so multi-tabling came really easily to me. I currently 8-table 2/4 and my BB/100 wallows between 1.5-2 usually. Since i'm still a bit shy of 20K hands it can still go up and down a lot if I hit a big winning/losing session. I'd say those numbers definitly look do-able though. I'm currently debating moving to 3/6 but I fear a bad start (even though i'm sufficiently rolled) so I currently stay in my 2/4 blanket of fear :P

[/ QUOTE ]
First a comment to you....
I am also rolled for 3/6 at the moment and what I generally do is mix in a few 3/6 tables in with my 2/4, I suggest you do the same as it allows you a glimpse into the weak tight world of 3/6 without being fully engulfed.

Now to others...
Thanks for the responses folks, essentially what the plan for me is going to be is to 8-table about 20 hours a week for all of August and then do a stat check on my winrate compared to the data of have gotten from 4-tabling. I am pretty good at multitasking so I doubt that the jump will be overwhelming, however, if I do feel overwhlemed I will certainly find no shame in stepping down to 6 tables for a week or so to get more used to it. Thanks again guys for the great responses, keep 'em coming as I think a lot of good points are being brought up about making the 4 to 8 table jump.

I use to 12 table the 2/4 and I don't think multitabling significantly reduces winrate if you do it well. Prior to 12 tabling I had maybe 70K of 3+

this is bs

I think the only part of this statement that is BS is
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think multitabling significantly reduces winrate

[/ QUOTE ]

I was close to the 3 BB/100 12 Tabling the 2-4 over a very large sample size, a lot more than 70K, and I was an auto pilot 99% of the time, playing in peak times 3 is probably doable by an excellent player, in the mornings or afternoons, forget it.

MY wnrate dropped when I moved from 4 - 8 - 12 tabling every time. I had more of a drop going from 4-8 then I did going from 8-12

[ QUOTE ]
Many people push to play 8 tables, throw out game selection and probably would do better overall if they played 1,2 or 3 tables less. IF by 8-tabling you are throwing game selection out the window your winrate could further be hindered compared to ease with which you or I can select "good games" when you are playing fewer games comfortably

[/ QUOTE ]

At the 2-4 limits almost every game is a good game. The competition is just so soft.

Default from 4 to 8-tabling, start with 10 tables

Yeah folks, that is what I did.
I went down to 0.5/1 and grinded out a couple of days at
10 tables.

Reasons
1.You need to practice multitabling and not poker, focus on your goal. For example to try to get better at reading hands play 1-2 table instead to focus on that skill.
2.You don't need to worry about timing out since it won't cost you much at this level. u r not playing for money but to practice multitabling.
3.It is psychologically easier to start out here.
4.Overcompensating is a good learning strategy in many areas.

2-3 days and I was ready to 8-table my regular limit.

At first I timed out all the time. It is escpecially hard when you have 5-6 blinds at the same time but I quickly cought up.

I just 8-tabled 6-max. After an hour, I'm burnt out. I got in around 800 hands. My VPIP also dropped by 6 points from its normal.

My brain is unbelievably fried.

The fact you lived for an hour is impressive enough.

Nod, I tried this. I can 6 table perfectly but I can't 8 table at all. Oh well.
