Re: How often will quads over quads happen?
I've seen aces full beat a few times in casinos at my table, also at nearby tables, and seen quads beat at my table more than once too. I've also seen a straight flush beaten at least once, maybe twice. But all in casinos; I haven't seen a hand like that in my going on 50k online hands yet.
Now that I remember it, I just lost with Aces full two days ago. Didn't recall it at first cuz I'm getting last carded so much lately that seems bizarrely in line with my recent luck. |

Re: How often will quads over quads happen?
I've seen that too, where you have aces full and STILL don't win the jackpot. Now that's sad. And expensive.

i was involved in quads over quads twice in 10 days. very strange. both times i was the loser, and won the bad beat jackpot at prima.

Re: How often will quads over quads happen?
Last month I saw a straight flush over quads over quads on UB. Granted it was in Omaha but it was still pretty cool (would have been cooler if I'd had the straight flush; luckily I didn;t have the quads either though).

Re: How often will quads over quads happen?
I took down some guy who flopped quads the other day when I hit a runner runner straight flush.

Re: How often will quads over quads happen?
The other day I had JJ in the BB, MP raises, 2 call, I 3-bet, everyone calls... 4 to the Flop
Flop: AJJ I bet, all call Turn: whatever I bet, all call River: whatever I bet, all call |

Re: How often will quads over quads happen?
Heres the math:
The Probablity that in a 10 sided game at least two people have different pps preflop and both of these two people hit quads (assuming they see the river) is: #PPs * #PPs(excluding those of the others rank)*#Ways to deal out 8 others preflop hands without giving any cards of the pp's rank*Number of flops making quads/ Number of ways to deal out 10 hands*Number of Flops= (78)(72)(946 C 2)(44)/(1326 C 10)(32 C 5)= .000004233 So roughly 4 times in a million. You can also do it by having one player with a pp and one player hit three of his cards on the board. This is (78 pps)(1126 C 9 ways to deal out other 9)(1 flop that gives both quads)/(1326 C 10)(32 C 5)= .000000683 So roughly 6 times in 10 million All in all, it happens a little under 5 times in a million. Re: How often will quads over quads happen?
Hey Mathnerd Mike, care to answer me a question I was always curious about?
Playing 7-stud in a casino once, I got dealt as my first three cards a set of 9's. Then again, and again! Three times in a row. What's the chance of getting trips in a row and the SAME rank of trips three times in a row in a game of 7-stud? Lord it's been years -- does anyone recall the number of players at a Commerce 7-stud table? It's less than the fairly standard Hold'em 10, but can't remember further for sure -- thinking it's seven. |

"What's the chance of getting trips in a row and the SAME rank of trips three times in a row in a game of 7-stud?"
For the odds of dealing three stud starting hands (ie three cards) and getting the same trips each time I get about 11.8 billion to one, with the odds of being dealt trip nines specifically each time about 148bn to one. But I'm not very good at this sort of thing and those numbers seem kind of big. |
