Call it a christmas tree, I dont care, just dont spend my tax money on it.

[/ QUOTE ]

And so we reach the root of the issue. Its not the word Christmas that offends you, but rather the $500 bucks that Washington spends on a big tree out of its $2,500,000,000,000 budget that is causing you unrest.

Well, since the Constitution clearly forbids Christmas trees on public property, I think you may have a strong case here.

Fox News' flashes about the "War on Chirstmas",

[/ QUOTE ]

or the "FOX News Channel Holiday Ornament"

or more specifically, "The O'Reilly Factor Holiday Ornament"

I guess it really is fair and balanced. O'Reilly goes on a rant about the term "holiday" instead of Christmas, then sells "Holiday ornaments" on their website.

I work and pay taxes, they use my tax money to buy symbols of christianity. They are forcing me to work for christianity.

[/ QUOTE ]

You've hit the *really* offensive part of this. I don't care if it's a christmas tree, a easter bunny, or a holiday armadillo, there's still someone taking my money to pay for it.

They're forcing me to work for interstate highways, public schools, and nuclear weapon research!

Right! And because YOU don't want these things, NOBODY should have them! Now I understand the logic!

Why don't you just post a picture of your avatar instead of words? It all boils down to the same thing anyway and you'll save a lot of time...

Defense, infrastructure and education go toward the common good. I have tried to refrain from being condesending, but didnt you take econ 101 in high school? xmas trees do not fall into this catagory.

It is up to our elected leaders to determine how to spend our money. The way things are going, we will be getting new leaders soon.

"You, the vast minority, wish to impose your will on that vast majority because you are offended by the word Christmas? Well I have news for you, the word "Holiday" offends me. And how much do you think it costs to chop and tree down and put lights on it? Is that really what this is about? "

How much of our federal, state and local budgets should go toward the promotion of christianity, 1%? 5%?

You better read your copy of the constitution.

I never said I was offended. I am getting a tree for my grandmother this week and I am paying for it with my own money. I just don't want public money being spent on religious symbols.

You are being disengenous when you say 'holiday' offends you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Do you know that they are paying for it? Many times the items are donated and simply displayed on public property. Do you have a problem still?

They don't? Why not? Apparently a lot of people get benefits from christmas trees. We know this because a lot of people buy them for their own homes. *You* like defense, infrastructure, and eductation, but someone else might not. Somebody likes christmas trees, and you don't. Why is one use legitimate and the other not?

So you like the system as long as they're blowing someone else's money on things *you* like.
