With small pairs like this I don't ever think about if I am ahead, or behind on the flop or the turn. I'm there to make a set, and If I do, I try and double up. This is how I play them. I may be losing a little equity here, but I think I also save some by not trying to make unnecessary reads.
Yesterday I had a hand where the flop was 234 with 2 hearts and I held 7s out of position. There was 5 people in the hand and I check folded the flop on level 2. I may have the best hand here, but I'm not interested in figuring it out. I'm there to make a set only, not trying to squeeze every ounce of value out of a small pair OOP. That's just the way I look at it. It just seems wrong to risk half your stack on a read that's iffy. I would rather save my stack for a better hand and more of a sure thing. |
