Re: Best leadoff hitter in the game today
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, Rose made 1900 more outs too. Rose's OBP was .375 for his career, vs. the league average of .331; Henderson's was .401 vs. the league average of .327. Rose's OPS was .784 vs. the league average of .721; Henderson's was .820 vs. the league average of .728. And Rose was a bigger jerk than Rickey. Still is. [/ QUOTE ] Rickey Henderson is definitely one of my favorites ever. I remember the first time I went to the HoF, and in that room where they have pictures of the top guys for certain categories he seemed to be in every other photo. I mean, he's the last guy in the history of baseball that you wanted to walk, and he has the most [censored] walks in history. How good is this guy? And it's funny because he is a guy that the everyman can appreciate as well as being a sabermetric darling. The game misses him a lot IMO. -James |

Nitpick: Rickey's #2 in walks in history. [/ QUOTE ] Haha, I must have been asleep when Bonds broke that record. I remember digging through old stats in college and Rickey was far and away ahead of any active players then, but Mr. Bonds tends to accumulate walks quickly these days I guess. -James |
