Butkus, Nitschke, Lambert, LT, Reggie White, Singletary, Rod Woodson, Alan Page, Ronnie Lott, Night Train, Deacon Jones...

Defensive players better than Ray Lewis off the top of my head:
LT, Dick Lane, Rod Woodson, Dick Butkis, Reggie, Merlon Olson, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, Ray Nitschke.

Paul Zimmerman of SI says he's overrated greatly. I trust his opinions on football more than I trust any other writer on any other subject. Dude knows his stuff.

I dont know how he's not in the top 5 on anyone's list. When you talk about greatness, its not just skill, its big playes, leadership, making a team better, football knowledge and many other intangables. Have you seen a team with a worse offense win the Super Bowl, like the Ravens did? I think not...while he is surrounded by good players on defence he makes them all better. You also have to account for the times, this an era where every team has a potential 1,000 yard back, and the skill lv in the NFL now is much greater than it used to be.

So do I, but I don't call myself a doctor and right articles about it. Just my opinion, but I think the guy is a fraud.
