Arnold just dropped $300 million on that special election. Not very fiscally responsible.

California has BILLIONS and BILLIONS of debt because their assembly can't stop playing Santa Claus. To spend millions to stop the state from losing BILLIONS is +EV. If you play poker with the same 'logic' that you use towards politics, then you must be donating a lot of money to other players....

First, I don't play poker with taxpayer's money. Second, it's not +EV if no one supports your ideas/ballot measures. His approval ratings are in the 20's, he should have known better.

It was a cheap shot. I already stated some of the reasons I didn't consider it an important election.

Cali's Democrats should be ashamed though: We have socialist parties (NDP and Parti Quebecois) that are far more fasically responsible (and more left-wing, interestingly) than Cali's Democrats.

There was no way that Arnold was going to win on this election because it was an Issue based election meaning that the GOP had no one to attack. It is very hard for the Pubs to win on issues alone.

Remember God, Gays and Guns are the main issues to the base.

Ok, I'm a Democrat, but those comments are lame. And I voted yes on 74-77. California needs help, and simply claiming a victory over Arnold ain't gonna get the job done.

It's important for the direction of the state, but the Senate and Congress determine the direction of the nation. I heard all of the crowing about the Dem governors winning and didn't understand why the press made a big deal of it. On the national level these races were unimportant.

New York: Nothing to note there.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, there is.

New Yorkers are going something like 5:1 as registered Dems and GOPsters respectively, yet a Republican Mayor (admittedly a "moderate" Republican) gets re-elected with a clear margin.

The Democrats have been taking New York for granted for many years now, to their peril.

Bloomberg is a liberal Democrat in Republican's clothing.
