Re: Party Poker Button on Internet Explorer, can you say Invasive ! !
[ QUOTE ]
whatever man, my point is who really cares? that's all i gotta say [/ QUOTE ] Anyone who cares about internet security. If this is no big deal to you then you are in for a rude awakening soon. I would suggest you download Spybot S&D and find out for yourself. http://www.safer-networking.org/ |

Also you may want to look Under Tools in Internet Explorer and see the 2nd surprise they left for you. Try deleting that one.

[ QUOTE ]
OK, maybe I'm just ignorant or something, but I honestly don't see how big a deal it is? Its one, easily removable button. Show me they're tracking where I go when I'm online, then I'll rant and rave. Until then, its 3 clicks to peace and and empty toolbar for all you guys...and while you're at it, I hope you've emailed AOL about putting an AIM button there you didn't ask for. [/ QUOTE ] That sounds like what spammers like to say: "But it's just one email, you can click delete if you don't want it!" What if every application you install turned around and installed a button in your browser without asking permission? -Mike |

You guys are funny
When it was reported that party was scanning everyones computer to see what applications were running, no one cared and it was shrugged off.
Now they install a little button and everyone is outraged. I personally think the former is more intrusive than the latter. |

Right next to my Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger commands that I never use nor care about. They were installed without my permission - and I NEVER use Yahoo messenger.

They were installed without my permission [/ QUOTE ] Actually they wern't. If you read the terms and conditions when installing Yahoo and AIM it states it will install these. Thats all Party had to do also. |

Re: Party Poker Button on Internet Explorer, can you say Invasive ! !
Its a Toolbar Button and an entry into your Tools Menu. Big difference.
toolbar: yes, a very big difference! right-click, customize, remove. tools menu: (registry) hklm\software\microsoft\internet explorer\extensions. anybody techie enough to be bothered by this can easily delete it. if you don't like it, don't install or use partypoker. i'm sure the place would be better off with less 2+2ers. |

it removes it. what defines a 'person like me [/ QUOTE ] It hides it. Its still there and takes 5 clicks to unhide it. To remove it you must remove the registry entries that created it. A person like you is someone who doesn't know what they are talking about but trys to act like they do. |
