whether it is billiards or poker, never stake another player. If they were successful then they wouldn't need to be staked now would they. The guy was not dumb, he got you to give him money. So guess who the dumb one REALLY is?

Not trying to be nasty, but I hope you learned your lesson.

Don't back anyone!! Pool is tougher to make money on, not much money out there. But poker is really popular now and prize money is huge. If they have any bit of success they will not need to be staked by anyone.

I used to stake a small time pool player and one night it was a miracle. We won 4,000 dollars. Three nights later my player is broke again. Hmmm how can you go through 2K in three days? Luckily I was with him whenever we played so I got paid right then and there.

Well it looks like I am getting my money back because the culprit has already posted on the forum and pmed me several times in order to clear up the mess. So I am still happy I was able to invest 1700 and get back 3500. But this will be the last time I stake someone that I don't know personally or live near.

I don't understand why he owes you 3000.
You gave him 1700 and 50% of 1700 is 850, so he owes you 2550. Is the other 450 there because he is paying late?

I think it's about 1700 + half of his winnings.

Ok but I expect to be paid everyone...

I just thought it's a bit histrionic for someone to even suggest that the OP may wind up in prison!! In PRISON!!!!! Do you realize how ludircous that is and the kind of things that are posted on the internet every day that are much more prison sentence deserving than this.
